John Bryce FRICS
Director & Chairman
John is the senior Director of Bowyer Bryce. He commenced in the profession in July 1961 and became a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in April 1979.
Between 1961 and 1970 John worked for three firms of chartered surveyors gaining particular experience in the retail, office and industrial markets of North London, Mid and East Hertfordshire. In 1970 John established his own business which expanded into Enfield in 1979.
For a number of years John acted as a consultant to Adecco Limited (formerly Alfred Marks Bureau Limited) and was involved in facilities management, asset and general valuation work, office space planning (including a major headquarters building), asset management (largest portfolio with a nominal value of £50m), sale and purchase of all types of property including investments and managing refurbishment schemes up to £18m. Throughout this period John gained considerable experience in international law and taxation relating to property issues in France, Germany and Italy.
John continues to advise a number of clients on acquisitions and disposals of properties for occupation and investment and advises banks on development funding.

Ray Arrowsmith FRICS ACIArb
Managing Director
Ray joined Bowyer Bryce in 1980 from a Central London firm of fine art auctioneers where he established a property management and valuation department. Prior to that Ray was a partner in Donaldsons, Chartered Surveyors, based in Hackney, East London where he was for 10 years.
Ray became a Fellow of the RICS in 1979 and is the Director responsible for the asset management and professional departments.
The professional department deals with all property related matters including asset and loan security valuations, commercial property surveys, dilapidation disputes and general building surveying. Ray deals with commercial rent review and lease renewal negotiations, property related disputes and acts as an expert valuation witness in valuation litigation.
Although an emphasis on commercial property Ray and other members of the professional team deal with residential Leasehold Reform valuations and advise a number of major Registered Social Landlords in respect of the valuation and acquisition of social housing schemes.
In 2002 Ray was awarded a Certificate in Rent Review Arbitration from The College of Estate Management and subsequently admitted as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is regularly appointed by The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as an Independent Expert or Arbitrator in commercial rent review disputes.

Steven Murray BSc FRICS
Director
Steven is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors having qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1983 and became a Partner of Bowyer Bryce in 1986.
He is the Director responsible for special projects, which encompasses all aspects of professional work, including valuations, planning and development, landlord and tenant matters and compulsory purchase orders.
These projects have included large redevelopment schemes and the successful relocation of a number of companies from conception to delivery.
Steven has played an important role in establishing and developing the company's now recognised status as a provider of 'best value' and consultancy services to a number of local authorities and other public bodies.
Steven is also the Director responsible for the company's rating department which advises businesses on their business rates liabilities and conducts appeals on their behalf. He has been appointed by the British Retailers Consortium to chair discussions with the Valuation Office in connection with retail centres in North London and Hertfordshire.

Ian Harding
Director
Ian entered the profession in 1976 and has specialised in business space agency throughout his career.
Between 1976 and 1982 he worked for two firms, mainly Edward Symmons and Partners specialising in office and industrial properties nationwide.
In 1985, Ian was headhunted by CIL Developments to promote and market from inception to completion Britain's first trade centre known as the Business Design Centre in Islington encompassing 120 showrooms together with a fully integrated exhibition facility.
In 1987, Ian joined Conrad Ritblat as Associate Partner heading up the decentralised industrial and office department, specialising in the Northern Home Counties.
Ian made a conscious decision to move out from London's West End circuit to specialise in the North M25 sector and in 1995 joined Bowyer Bryce as Associate to expand and develop a credible North M25 agency force.
Ian is now the Director responsible for the company's agency departments and corporate marketing.
